PLEASE HELP WITH GIGUNDUS GF!

GIGI2195 Mar 21, 2005 08:13 PM

(AQUARIUM HAD 3 NEONS, 5 ZEBRAS, 2 MOLLIES & 4 GOLDFISH)
MY HUSBAND BOUGHT SOME GOLDFISH ABOUT 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO. ONE OF THE GF HAS GROWN TO A VERY LARGE SIZE VERY QUICKLY. HE SEEMS TO BE THE ALPHA (LOL) FISH. HE IS DEFINITELY THE ONE IN CHARGE. HE CHASES ALL OF THE OTHER FISH AROUND AND PUSHES THEM OUT OF THE WAY AT FEEDING TIME. THIS MORNING WE NOTICED TODAY THAT ALL 3 OF MY NEONS (MY FAVORITE FISH!)AND 2 OF MY ZEBRAS ARE M.I.A.! (LOL) THE HUGE GF SEEMS TO HAVE EATEN MY FISH (I CAN SEE A LITTLE FISH HEAD IN HIS THROAT)! WHAT SHOULD I DO TO STOP THIS? I FEED THEM ABOUT 3 TIMES A DAY. PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I FLUSH THESE GUYS!
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

As they are in a tropical environment goldfish grow quickly. Are they all common?
The biggest one will be giving off a hormone to the other goldies that will stop them growing as big as he is. Goldfish will eat anything they can catch small enough to fit in the mouth. The only solution is to either take them to the pet shop or get them their own tank as commons can grow well past 12 inches.
Commons need 15 gallons each and fancy types around ten gallons each and 10 times the filtration too.
