MY FISH IS IN LABOUR!!!!! RIGHT NOWWWW

fluffy_kinns Apr 16, 2005 08:55 AM

Hi Everybody, im so excited i have a Comet Shubunkin fish and she is in labour she is floating there in the water upside down swishing her tail a lil bit but you can see the huge bulge near her tail and half an egg is poking out. Poor baby, she has been in this state for about 5 hours now.
i thought it would be like POP POP POP and the eggs would shoot out but its almost like human labour. it looks really painful. she was up near the pond plants but now she has moved to the opposite end of the pond near the ledge she is right at the surface upside down I can see everything. I hope the pain goes soon.Ill post some photos soon

What happened with this fish?

My fish have bred each year and I've never heard or seen such a thing. Actually, I've never seen my fish lay eggs, nor have I seen the eggs in the pond. Usually, I just notice hundreds of babies swimming around.

Unfortunatly everybody the fish wasn't pregnant. It was ill. The buldge was it's intestines and i think its called dropsy. it was beyond help as you could see the blood vessels and th fish looked like it was in alot of pain. We decided to put it out of its misery and we took it out of the water and buried it that day.
