What kind of pump? How much?

turtleguy89 Apr 24, 2005 03:26 PM

Hello everyone, thanks for reading my posting. I have been determined to build a pond for some time, and 2 weeks ago I got the hard part done.... I dug a monsterous hole in the backyard.
I am putting the funds together now for my liner- a 20x20.... My
pond is irregular in shape, but flat and level on each of the three levels... Altogether about 3,000 gallons. I would like to incorporate some type of moving water, nothing too strong, I would still like lilies in the pond, and budget on the pump is limited.I am leaning towards a small waterfall. If anyone has some advice or reccomendations, please direct me the right way.
Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,

Sounds like you are going to have an awesome pond! I'd love one that size. I just have a small one, but I love it. I like a waterfall. You can purchase prefabs, or you can build one yourself. We have a box that sits at the top, with filters inside. I'm afraid I don't remember what it is called. We've surrounded it with layers of bricks on the backs and sides, covered those with dirt, then layered flat rock around it and under it to create the waterfall. We're having to redo our waterfall as gophers got under the liner and chewed it all up. Not fun, so it is all torn apart right now. I'll have to find some pictures to show.
