Dusk time pond photo

Cometstorm May 12, 2005 01:20 PM

Here is a photo I took a few days ago.... Pretty interesting shot, and it turned out much better than I expected.

5 megapix Pentax Optio digital cam, shutter priority set to 1/20th shutter speed. Time delay mode on-tripod.

Does anyone else have night time pond photos to share?

What a beautfiul pond! I don't have any lighting around mine. Is that a fire pit in the photo? What a neat idea! Do you have more photos?

Hi Minuet...

Thanks for the pond and photo compliments... I'll try and attach a few more pics...

Yup! That's a firepit in the background. That was the wife's idea, which I think was a very good one. At night looking off the deck, over the pond falls, and toward a lit firepit. Well, it looks so surreal and medieval....

Low voltage lighting is relatively inexpensive, so easy to work with, and very effective. I highly recommend it....

Plus, the lights bring out tons of frogs out of the woods. What a night chorus THAT is!

Heck, I do believe I like our setup more at night than in the daytime! lol!

Happy ponding!

Wow, I am green with envy! You're pond is so beautiful! I'm going to show it to my husband and see if we can create a firepit area like you have. We have a firepit in ours, but it doesn't look as nice are yours. Our pond in much smaller. Here is a photo of it when it looked halfway decent. Right now it is a mess. Gophers got under the liner and chewed up the waterfall, so we've had to tear that down. The english ivy has taken over all around it and it's a mess. We have alot of work to do to it this summer.

Sorry to hear about them gophers, Minuet... It seems like with ponds, you just never know what problems are going to strike....*sigh*

I'm pretty new to this myself, as ours was installed by a landscaper.

We've had about five "pond floods" since it was finished a little over a month ago. All related to the auto-fill feature off the sprinkler system. But, we THINK we've got it licked now "keeping our fingers crossed."

You'll get that puppy back in service in no-time! And, it looks like you have beautiful surroundings to work in...

One thing particularly good about this hobby....at least you're always close to home!

Minuet May 24, 2005 12:33 PM

LOL, you're right about being close to home. I really don't know what we are going to do with it. I've suggested many times to my husband to call someone and have them come out and redo it, make it look more natural, but he wants to do it. So, that's fine. At least he is home. <G>

Do you keep any fish in yours? Of just the turtles and frogs?

Well, Letsee....

We have about four Koi, two regular goldfish, two Calico goldfish, several bullfrog tads, and a ton of wood toad baby tads that nature made happen very recently....

Two of our favorite fish (a Koi called "stripy" and a Calico goldfish) up and disappeared about three weeks ago. No signs of floaters or fish debris...

I'm hoping they just went into hiding into one of the caves for whatever reason....

We're gonna throw a BIG party if they ever reappear!

Stripy was like the "leader of the pack." Sure do miss him!

I hope the herons didn't get your fish. They got ours. A neighbor said that they got all theirs also, and they often see one sitting on the roof of the house. We haven't figured out yet what we will do to keep them out.

Whew~~~
beautiful pond and pics !!!
Just love it ! I really like the nighttime effects !!! I'm big on lighting when it comes to ponds.

check out some of the ones I created at the link below. Here in hot and humid south texas, the evening and night is where it's at !What better way to then light up the pond to enjoy it !

By contrast, LARPs tend to be rooted in a single location. It's just part of the method(to Buy WOW Gold). Thirty or more characters come together to interact, plot and do whatever those characters do. Again, if the player base is much smaller, you're really running a series of tabletops. While I'm not saying it's impossible to have (WOW Gold)adventure in LARP, that genre of story just isn't built into the format. As such, I question whether a WOW(RuneScape Gold) LARP would have the same feel as the tabletop or video games. It would take a skilled game master to make the LARP feel adventurous.
