Stocking Mussels in pond

Malakai Dec 05, 2005 06:48 AM

I live in north-central florida and would like to stock some mussels in my pond, for filtration and such. I can capture a few at a time at some of the local lakes, but I would like to find a place online to order a large quantity. Does any one know where to buy them online? thanks

Don't order any online or bring in exotic mussles into your pond. you will open a pandoras box of overpopulation or no success at all. Use some from the local lakes but be warned they will most likely do very well, maybe too well. -phillip

p.s. not that it would likely do much harm but north american mussles and many exotics are parasitic to fish in the larval stage.
google: glochidia
