Hey guys. i'm a saltwater reefer guy and have been for over 10 years. My sister has a large pond i'm guessing 6k gallons with koi in it. she's got a skimmer box in the pond but the water is still not clear.(has lots of floating gunk) i'm wondering if a saltwater style skimmer would work on a freshwater pond? has anyone tryed this? if they have can you point me to a link or something where this was tried.

What size pump does she have on the skimmer? Any obstructions? Many times, hobbiest will place too small (or in some instances too large) a pump on or in their skimmer - while the pump will get adequate water, the skimmer will not work effectively.
Not sure if that setup would work on a pond or not - looks like a rather large footprint.
