cmcs Jun 24, 2006 07:03 PM

I have this on a few of my comets and some of my small fry that are about 2 moths old. All fish with spot are all active eat well and all have it in the same general area. This fellow picture was borned in my pond last year. No new fish have be introduced in the last 3 months. However new plants have recently been added.
I kave several Koi in this pond and id like to nip this quick.
Pond volume is about 4000 gals.

Thank you for any input.

It's a little hard to tell in the pic, but is it fuzzy looking? If it is I'd say it could be a fungus, for which you'll need a medication. It might also be an ulcer, but they tend to be all over. Does the spot stay the same size or grow over time? Have they been spreading to other body parts? Is it waxy and yellow looking? Are there any other noticable symptoms that you have seen? Have you tested your water perameters? Ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? Sometimes things can come in with plants, next time some are added make sure to quarentine them first.

Yes, I have four comet and 2 gold fish died. Before they died I did notice those white spots on their scales, exactly like it was showing in this picture. The comet also have some dark spots right around and under their gills too. I did take the water for testing and it was all normal. I pump all the water out, clean the pond and pump all new water in...although these white spots did show up before I changed the water. Could it be ich?
