To many tadpoles?

diggrguy Jun 26, 2006 04:49 PM

I have only had my pond for acouple of months and it is fairly small. 3' X 6' X 18". I have 6 small goldfish and one 4" shubunkin in the pond thus far and they seem to be doing alright. Then came the frogs, they were a pleasure at first, then they started having tadpoles. Now my pond teems with them. They attack my food when I try to feed my fish and the fish don't seem to want any part of them. Is this going to be a bigger problem as the tadpoles mature?

there may be a problem once they get bigger. the problem would likely be that they would overcrowd the pond and devoid it of algae..thus the tadpoles would start to die in large numbers from starvation. my suggestion is to get 1 or 2 predatory fis that are big enough to eat the tadpoles..and see if that reduces there numbers any. if that dosnt work ..you may want to start removing the tadpoles yourself.
