hophop Sep 19, 2006 01:22 PM

hi, i'm new at this pond thing. Basically we moved into a house that had a pond. It was extremely dirty with dead leaves and muck but we cleaned it up and put fresh water in it. When it was dirty there were about a dozen frogs living in it. |They are still there, but there is also these little tiny black things swimming around in it now. Millions of them! Its also made the water soupy looking and dirty again. what can i do? and whats in my water? thanks

Hi HopHop, welcome to the group. As for the little black things in your water, it sounds like they could be mosquito larvae. As for the water going milky, it could be a bacterial bloom which should clear up shortly once the water balances. If your water continues to be milky, it could be that it needs a biological filter. I have a diagram of a really good one that can be found at our clubs website at: www.geocities.com/ont_pondkeper

Yours Koily, Lorraine
