I am building my waterfall and have used mortar to hold some rocks together. Does the mortar need to be leeched like concrete?

I do ponds all the time using mortar to create watefall basins. I have yet to have any noticible effects of the lime leeching as I leave the mortar to cure for 2-3 days intill water fill.
