Good luck with that John... about 6 months ago I scoured the internet looking for an active duprasi breeder in the US. There was only one... Helen's over in San Antonio. And she only had a very few breeders left.
Duprasi in the US is pretty much extinct. That USDA ban caused people to stop breeding them since they could not sell the babies. The ones left are mostly related to each other.
You can't import more either (from any source) as long as the CDC has that ban on African rodents in place. I was able to get a permit to import 400 duprasi, but the CDC also said that I could only sell the offspring to zoos and universities and labs. If one ever made it to the pet market from any of these customers (even tho I was not in control of the customer) I would be held responsible. Now, I seriously doubt they could make that stick, but I wasn't interested in selling only to zoos and labs.
The only real hope for duprasi is to get the CDC to change the language of the ban to say 'sub-Saharan Africa' instead of 'Africa' or to make a few exceptions for animals that have been shown to be incapable of hosting monkey pox. Neither are likely.
