a friend of mine has a friend whos 2 yr old female rat has gone blind in the space of 2 days and has been clawing at her eyes as well...the rat was acting fine and normal up until now, and i was wondering if anyone on here would have any ideas? shes taking the rat to the vet tomorrow but isnt sure the vet will know whats going on =/ they havent fed her anything different, they havent changed cage cleaning procedures or anything like that. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, this poor girlie rattie may have a very serious issue. And I'm glad they took her to a vet right away. I've never had any of my rats do this, but if they did, I'd be at the vet lickity split. Good luck for that little girl.

That's pretty sad. I can only hope they figure something out, but given her age it could be any number of things that would take a toll on her health.
