Do you keep your rats in your bedroom?

elcheal Oct 25, 2008 08:58 PM

hi, i was just wondering how many of you keep your rats in your bedroom. i have a hamster which i love, but i simply can't keep him in my room because at night he is obnoxiously loud. he obsessively chews on the bars of his cage (even when he has numerous chew toys) and runs on his wheel which is also loud. are rats quieter or would they be at about the same level of noise?

thankyou

Rats don't' tend to run on wheels as much as hamsters and mice but can be just as boisterous. My rats are running around, wrestling and chewing each night but I have grown used to it except when they have a fight and start banging around..or an 'elbow' PVC pipe section ends up close to the side of the cage and bangs against the side as they run through or wrestle inside of it.

The nursing babies though, are the noisiest...yet for some reason I find it soothing...

yeah, i used to have a couple of guinea pigs in my room and the amount of noise that they made never bothered me, so i didn't expect my hamster to either..

but the amount of noise that he makes is crazy loud and he never stops going at it.
