injured mourning dove

Hi I found a dove out by the feeder today that cannot fly. It seems to have shredded tail feathers!?!?! It was getting dark & colder outside we have snow(we are in michigan). I talked my husband into bringing it inside. It is in a laundry basket with some food & water in our room(5 cats we have to keep it out of sight!) I dont know what to do with the poor thing. Will the feathers grow back???? Someone HELP PLEASE!!!
