I just registered for PetHobbyist just to post here, but it seems no one posts anymore!

Welcome to the boards.

There are still a few posts on Aquarium Hobbyist every week, perhaps not on the North American Natives forum, but on the site as a whole.

Good good. Maybe you can help me out with a question?

This really is more about filtration than native fish.

Im setting up a 90gal native tank. Lightly stocked. I plan on having only a handful of fish, and nothing large. Everything I put in the tank will be small. A catfish, a couple crappie, a couple pumpkinseed. When they get large i'll be putting them in my pond.

Anyways, filtration. I have 2 filters right now. An Aquaclear500 power filter and a Fluval404 canister.

Looking online, it says the Aquaclear500 is good for a tank maximum of 150 gallons. Do I need to even bother with the Fluval? Its giving me a freakin headache to set up, so if ill be fine without it, i will be happy.

I would say you can forget about the Fluval. Your tank should be perfectly fine with just the power filters. Although I will say that when your fish get larger if you notice them hanging around the surface, you should add an airstone to help with the oxygen in the tank.

If you want to talk fish (lots of discussions), we have a Fish Chat on Tuesdays at 10 pm EST. There's generally people on weekday evenings. Just wanted to inform you of that, in case you didn't know about our chat rooms.

Thats for the help. Im so happy to know I can forget about this stupid canister!!

I already have a bubble wand and air stones im going to be setting up. Also i will have some live plants, so there should be plenty of oxygen for the little buggers.

I will be sure to check out the chat!
