She was around four and a half years old, and 18" long/12" wide. I was completely shocked to find her dead this evening, as she showed no signs for concern at all this morning.
What is a normal life expectation for a ray?

I was trying to find it on the internet for you, but I don't know what P is? What's the genus for your girl? Also, keep in mind when I find you the information the natural expectancy will be longer than captive expectancy for the most part. She was a pretty big girl, although I'm not sure what the maximum size for your ray is.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a lot of information on life expectancy or life history. This is the best information I can find for you. I looked through journal articles of current research on these guys. She is a beauty though, so I can see why you kept her. 
I'm sorry for your loss. I will still try to see what I can find out for you though. Until then, I will promote your post to see if anyone else has had one for longer.

I still was unable to find the information for you, but this new website focuses on longevity of many species. They only have Dasyatids on this site. Keep checking back on this site.
