I'm a little confused. Do you mean there is a red spot (or a couple red spots) on her lower abdomen? If that's the case, she could be pregnant. Can you get a picture of her?
Also, do you have males in the tank with her?

That would definitely be a parasite, but I'm not sure if it's a nematode or flukes. My first guess is that it is a couple nematodes because they are hanging from the anus. Try the one of the treatments listed. I hope it gets better. Keep me posted. I will also promote your post to a hot topic so if anyone else has successfully treated what you are experiencing, then they can help you too.

You removed the red spikes with tweezers? I don't remember exactly what the website I showed you suggested for treatments, but be careful when you do that because sometimes the parasite is attached to internal organs, and it will kill your fish when you remove it. Also, when you handle a fish you are removing epidermis (the top layer of skin) that contains the slime glands. This will allow bacteria to enter your fish's immune system. If you don't put in any melafix, I would recommend it now. Other than all that information, I'm glad your fish seems fine now. I hope it can pull through this ordeal.
