Aquarium specimens that escape the tank

bobbly Jun 12, 2009 07:38 AM

A few months ago I was walking downstairs in my house at midnight when, to my surprise, I found our blue lobster scuttling around on the step below me! He had escaped his 5-gallon aquarium which had a lid; obviously he had squeezed through the filter hole. I'd love to hear stories from other hobbyists who find crabs, crayfish, shrimp, octopi, and even fish on the floor, walking around the house, or otherwise escaped from the tank.

Crayfish and the like are "Houdini's" when it comes to escaping. a while back I had a crayfish that had virtually disappeared from my tank, a long time had passed ,then I seen his shell behind the tank (55 gallon) and then the next crayfish I purchased i made sure to seal my tank. I've had betas jump out and not quite dry up and threw them back in the tank and it made a come back.
