Best Aquarium Turtle?

rothenfluh Aug 20, 2009 05:43 PM

I have a freshwater 50 Gal H tank (about 2 ˝) feet of water with a few small puffers. I would like to get a couple of turtles to go with them. What is the best freshwater turtle for an aquarium that would only need a turtle dock, would be fine in a few feet of water, and likes to swim around? Thanks so much!

You shouldn't have a turtle in a tank with puffers. Puffers are toxic fish. Not to mention that any fish in the same tank as a turtle could be eaten. So say you did add a turtle, and the turtle ate one or all of your puffers, you turtle would probably die because puffers have toxins in their organs. You'd be left with an empty tank.
