looking for a catfish

zippybomb Sep 13, 2009 02:10 PM

I'm looking for a catfish to start of with as a beginner and i found out about one species named the red tailed catfish. but i found out that it grew to 5 feet and needed lots of room. but i loved the color and the way they look around for food and i heard that they even play with balls. so if anybody knew if there was a catfish that looked like the redtail but doesn't get very that would be very helpful!

Here's a list of good beginner fish, and bad beginner fish. The red-tailed catfish is listed as a bad beginner fish. Hope it helps.

no doubt, the cory is the fish for you. I think the largest they grow is about 2 inches, they are active in the light so you can see them, and they won't eat even th smallest fish. I would recomend you get at least 2, they are much more happy with others.
