New here, but have a question

Nautipus Mar 31, 2008 03:43 PM

Hi. I am new to this forum, but hope to be around for a while. I hope that I can contribute as well, as I have been doing saltwater fishtanks for about 6 years and am studying to be a marine zoologist. But i have a quick question and that is:

How well does anyone here no bobtail squid? I have worked with several cephalopods succesfully, including 4 species of octopus and 2 cuttlefish species, but I was wondering how these may differ in terms of care. I dont want to leap right in and risk the animal's helth.

Welcome to the boards! I have no experience with any marine setups yet, but am somewhat experienced in FW. I am going to school to be a marine biologist, and am almost graduated (in June or July, I can't remember at the moment). I am promoting you post so hopefully more people will read your post.
You may want to check to see if you can find information on them at fishbase.org.

Thanks for your welcome, and I will check out that site. What are you wanting to specialize in? (if anything)

Typically you wait until your Master degree to specialize... at least in marine biology. I'm not sure exactly what I wish to work with... pretty much anything that is marine (mostly vertebrates). I'm hoping to get a job with the aquarium or maybe the fisheries division.
