Unknown triggerfish

shenlung Jan 22, 2009 10:52 AM

I bought a well-established 55 gallon saltwater tank last night with a stars and stripes puffer, a volitan lionfish, and some kind of triggerfish.....and I don't know what type of fish it is! It's alot like the picasso trigger, but it lacks the coloration, the smear of spots on the tail is the same, but instead of a reddish block near the eyes, it has striations running from it's head down just past it dorsal ridge. I'm trying to find my camera to take a picture of it to link in this post. if anyone has any ideas what type of trigger it is, let me know, I'll research it, but googling "triggerfish species" gives me a whole slew of blurry pictures of picasso triggers.

Thanks!

nevermind, I found a picture of him...apparently it IS a picasso trigger, it just has markings that aren't normal for a picasso.

Yeah, I was going to tell you sometimes the usual for a fish species is variable for individuals of the same species.
