zebra finches

I have 2 males and 2 females in the same large cage. There are four nests available to them and they have started to put bedding in the nests. Is it okay to have 2 nesting pairs in the same cage? There is arguing among the birds but nothing too horrible.

I would recommend separating the two pairs. Finches are very territorial and may begin to fight over space as the babies hatch.

I take care of finches myself and they are sociable by nature. They should be bought in pairs so that shouldn't be an issue at all. Finches tend to be better with a companion of their own kind. If you were to mix different varieties of finches there could be possible conflict especially during mating season. If they seem to be very stressed, probably you may have to separate the pairs.
