Unusual Lovebird

lutino Jan 12, 2008 06:06 AM

Look what I picked up at a local bird shop, can you believe it. I had to look twice when I saw her sitting on the perch, "how much for the unusual Fischer?" I said.
"$38" she replied.
"I'LL TAKE IT!!!!!"

The coloration does make your bird quite unusual. In most instances it is a color mutation although in some rare instances it is from a vitamin deficiency or follicle damage. With as much of the coloration as this lovebird has though I would go with a very interesting color mutation. Wouldn't that make her like an orange-factor fischer's? I am never sure how they name mutations, I just remember the red-factor african grey has a lot of red intermingled with the gray feathers and is not a very common occurance. But either way nice-interesting lovebird you have there!

Diet related, medical problem and red or orange suffusion have been mentioned. I know nothing of the birds breeding history so that doesn't help but I do know it's outstanding to look at, especially for any lovebird fanatics.
