Can you offer Dandelion flowers to love birds? My lizards absolutely love them, but I'm not sure if they're safe for love birds. Of coarse even if they are who knows if he will touch them--he's going to be 16 yrs in June and he's getting picky in his old age

If you are positive they are free of sprays, mites etc (and with already feeding them to lizards I am sure you check) then they make a nice addition to a birds diet. Some herbalists claim they even have some minor bacteria fighting properties. Many birds even picky ones seem to enjoy picking the little "petals" off flowers and will eat them even when they are too picky to try other foods. So yes feed them to your lovie to your hearts content. He may enjoy playing with them or eating them and can get a little more vitamin A and calcium in the process (along with a bunch of other nutrients!)

Yep, mine are definitely safe I offered him one in his treat cup and so far he would not touch it...although he did climb around his cage and look at it from every possible angle, lol! I will keep trying and see if he'll take a nibble once he gets used to seeing them. Thank you so much for replying

We always have safe dandelions too for the iguanas, beardies etc. Others call them weeds I call them low priced healthy food My lovebirds are the same way. The first couple days of a new food they will climb all over their cages hanging above the food, perching beside the food, looking up at the food but never going near enough to touch it. Then usually about the third day it is chow time and then they are like little pigs eating everything they have gotten used to.
