making a change

raisnok Jun 22, 2008 06:48 PM

the cage i had for my love bird was an older type cage where i had to stick my hand in to get him out, with me trying to hand tame and get him used to me , i figured this was making things hard for him.

so i bought him a cage where the whole front opens.

also i was wondering opinions on masked love birds, that what he is.

Well as far as I can tell it looks like the normal coloration for the black masked lovebird, Agapornis personata. I am not familiar with any other varieties that have the exact same coloration.

Hopefully once your lovebird settles into its new cage it will be easier to handle for you. Sometimes the ease of getting into and out of the cage can make a difference over having to "chase" them around their cage. Anything to help so they don't see you as something they have to run away from and that will help you reach them more easily so you don't have to try and chase them.

Good luck and let us know how training/taming is going!
