brownish cere???

my budgie now has a brownish cere, although it didnt start this way when we got him. is this indicative of anything?

More than likely it means your "male" budgie is actually a female. A female budgie may start with a white, pink or even a blue/purple cere as a fledgling (juvenile) as it gets older the cere may change to a beige, tan or brownish color. The brown color seems to be darker when in breeding season. A male budgie will have an almost purplish cere when younger that will "usually" even out to a blue or darker purple when older but a brown or tan cere almost always means a female. Do you have pictures of "before" and "after". I could probably give a more definitive answer with photos.
