I'm currently attending Tarleton State in Texas. I thought it was a good equine school, it is definately known for ag! I just found out I have to hand slaughter cows, sheep, and pigs as a REQUIRED part of my curriculum. How screwed up it that? An equin science major killing cows??
Just a word to those college kids... if you have a problem with driving bolts through animal skulls, don't attend Tarleton to major in anything ag!! Even horse industries.

Yikes! That sounds a bit strange! We had to take a meats class for our Animal Science major, and learned all about the processing, as well as had to demonstrate different cuts of meat, but we didn't have to do the actual slaughter ourselves...thank goodness. I'm as carnivorous as they come but I prefer to let someone else do that part!
