Christmas is coming

TelogaApps Dec 02, 2004 08:30 AM

It seemed like a long way away until I turned the calendar page over yesterday and now its RIGHT THERE, LOL!! Fortunately we traveled to see family for Thanksgiving so I had to do all the Christmas shopping beforehand for that, so have very little left to worry about there. Just have to get the kids taken care of and of course there's the tree and decorations...

One day I'd like to have a really nice fence up along the road for our front pasture where I can string up garland and lights but until then, I'll have to keep playing the lottery! So how about everyone else? Do you decorate your barn for Christmas or your fencing? What horsey related Christmas traditions do you have - or wish you could start?

Hi Janelle

I just had to reply to your invitation for "horse" decoration stories. Every year since we built our barn in 1990, I have put garlands around the stall doors as part of the door decoration and 4 different horses/ponies have lived in those stalls with those garlands... plus stockings and other decorations around the barn. These stall doors are solid on the bottom and bars on the top. The look with the garlands is straight up on the sides and a little swag look across the very top. King decided I was a little late feeding this morning and that he could easily reach that little swag. Just as I entered the barn.. swoosh.. there goes the garland into his stall.. and he's shaking it out before dropping it and going straight to his feed tub!

Now.. I think this 5 year old needs to wear his Santa cap on the halter for a bit to get over his bah humbug LOL!

That garland is going back up.. shorter without a swag. LOL
