Household Heating Alternatives... Use horses!

ElusiveKimmaby Dec 03, 2004 01:58 AM

I just posted on how snuggly Pistol is getting, and have discovered just how REALLY REALLY warm these guys are!!! I'm considering throwing out the gas fireplace and moving in with THEM! If I could just keep him from stepping or rolling on me, neither of us would ever go cold! (Although I have a hunch I'd go cold much, much quicker than he!)
I've decided we should all pool together and come up with a way to make my new idea come true for an alternative method to household heating. For every so-and-so square feet (we can figure out the details later) I saw we assign one horse at night. We'll give him a nice, cozy little room with a nice cozy little horsey bed, train him to poop in a corner that can somehow carry the smell of THAT outdoors (details later as I said), and then there can be a vent on the ceiling of this room that goes into other portions of the house. Horses are absolute furnaces, we should harvest this excess heat at the luxury and comfort of our favorite supersize four leggers!!! Who's with me?!

That may be one of the best ideas ever.

My friend owns a small farm I had the privilege of visiting a few weeks ago. She lives in a barn apartment of which I am soooo jealous of. Her living room has windows cut into it to overlook the rest of the barn where some of her horses are stalled. Screw TV!

A window overlooking the horseys? No kidding screw TV! That's awesome! That's so what I should do... when we build our own barn instead of renovating the one next door, put a livingspace in it. Oh now that would be cool!

My trainer's husband moved his livingroom couch, TV, and recliner into a tack room type area, where there are two open stalls(not even shoulder height) so that he can watch tv WITH his horses. lol. that is the best.
