Question concerning halter colt

botchlatear Nov 12, 2004 09:27 AM

Hey everyone!
I'm looking to buy my first colt to use in halter clases and eventually put up for stud. The question:
He is a red-brown and white tobiano colt with one blue eye and one brown eye. Will the fact that he has a blue eye impact his show quality since he is not overo?
I've owned a paint before, but never halter shown one. Any info will be appreciated!!
This is the colt I am looking at One Tru Blue

I have a friend who shows/raises paints, and to my knowledge the blue eyes are not counted against. They shouldn't be... I know my friend had a beautiful breeding stock filly this year with blue eyes and her new owners bought her to show.

I know they are acceptable in overos with white near or around their eyes, i just didn't know about a tobiano!

he's really cute! I guess the one blue eye isn't as uncommon as I thought! It seems plenty of people have them! Pistol is my pinto and he has one blue eye, his right. They shouldn't count against him just because of his eye. Ugh, the horse world is ridiculous is stuff like this is considered a fault!
