A New Bridge Angel

ninga Jan 11, 2005 03:14 AM

Our Pepper (aka Wild Fantasy) went to the Bridge this morning at 1 am. She had severe case of colic and was is terrible pain and we just couldn't let her go through any more of it. The fact that she was pregnant with her first foal (she was due in May) is a double whammy to us. This was to be my husbands first foal.

I dread getting up later and seeing an empty paddock, no greeting nicker and no bucks and farts from a horse who enjoyed life to the utmost. Oh God i'm gonna miss her.

Gosh Margie, what a gorgeous girl she was. Truly stunning. I hope all the horses at the bridge welcome her and recognize her beauty.

Oh no, Margie! I had so hoped that she would pull through. I can only imagine what a terrible blow this is to you and your husband. I don't understand why horse vets haven't yet discovered a treatment/cure for colic in horses....sigh.
My deep sympathy to you. What a gorgeous girl she was! The kitties and I are GLOWing hard for her and for you.
Hugs,
Norma

Margie, I am so sorry. What an awful blow. I don't know what else to say except that GLOW is going out to Pepper to have a swift, safe journey and to you to heal your heart. She was a beautiful girl.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm at the angry stage right now at the unfairness of it all and mad at the whole dang world. But this is also part of the process I guess.

Her former owners didn't like her attitude and were going to dog food her as a weanling, so at least she got 8 years of love.

I regret not knowing what the baby would have been but I will just keep thinking that it would have been an exact duplicate of Pepper only in black and white and who would have gone into the show ring and made a name for himself.

Oh, Ninga, I'm so sorry. You've said it so well, you've got me feeling it too.

Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear that...I know you were really looking forward to that foal, and you've talked about Pepper so lovingly before...my heart is broken for you as I know how that kind of loss hurts. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers.
