Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me... I got an 8yr old Anglo-Arab 7 weeks ago and I havent had a horse of my own for 15years. she is a lovely horse but I am starting to have big problems with her and need some advice.

She has started to try and kick me when I have given her food and am trying to look around her or adjust her blanket. This is something she hasnt had any issues with before. She also pulls some pretty nasty faces at me warning me off. If she is tethered up by her stable she is good as gold but I cant always take her there as I work full time and dont have enough time.

I am presuming that she is trying to be the boss but I dont know how to tell her otherwise. I am frieghtened of getting hurt now as she has already bitten (nort hard just a warning) me twice so there doesnt seem to be a safe place to stand when I am near her in the field. Can anyone suggest what I should or can do?

Thanks in advance
Cindy

Hello Cindy,

I know its been awhile since you have posted this but maybe you still need help or something... Seven years is still along time for a horse i mean just imagine they can have babies by then and everything, with saying this , Your horse has been with another "owner" for seven years, if you know the person you bought it from then great, but if you dont you never know what kind of "Experiance" this horse has had... Maybe she was in a pasture with other horses that abused him/her. Or something like that, i mean you can never tell. Me and my older sister have a 19 yr. old arabian and she is afraid of EVERYTHING... she will snip at us or freak out even if we just lay food in her bucket right in front of her... its nothing bad you just have to be cautious.. Make sure you have the right size blanket on her, some horses are just stubborn and they do stuff without thinking of you... Try "avoiding her for ahile" Give her her food, and then leave... Or just sit there and watch and see what happens... Maybe its just because it is a knew environment for him/her...and it takes some getting used to ..! ! !

Well i hope this helps you.. if you have ANY questions you can always contact me! ! !

Bye,
Kate V.
