ID help, indoor insect

audihenry Nov 13, 2010 02:33 AM

Hey guys,

First time post here. I see a lot of these little insects (I'm not sure if they can even be called that) in my house, specifically in one part of our house. What the heck is it? I've taken a zoomed up photo, they only maybe 1/8th of an inch long or smaller.

Here's a photo: http://imgur.com/V2Nys.jpg

Any idea??

Thanks!

Sorry it took so long, haven't checked here in awhile as you can tell... hopefully you still check back.

Looks like the larvae of the Larder Beetle.

Hi Gerry, thanks for your reply. I googled it up and it does look close, but I don't know whether it's the right one as I haven't seen those beetles ever around here.

Could it be a termite of some sort?

Positively not a termite of any sort... it could be one of the carpet beetles species as well... matter of fact just googled it myself and one of them does have a strong resemblance to your photo... strong enough resemblance to make me second guess myself with the first ID

100% certain it isn't a termite so don't worry about being eaten out of house and home.
