Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula

Anyone know a reputable CBB baby seller of these? I have looked all over and all I can find is wild caught adults, which I do not want.

Thanks in advance

I don't understand what you are looking for. What is a CBB?

Oh, I thought it was a typo for a GBB.

Just about any major dealer sells captive breed stock, most of the smaller ones too. If you are finding Ts in the 2" or less size, you can be reasonably assured they were captive bred.

What specifically are you looking for?

Sorry, I didn't read the thread title, I rarely do. I just click on every new thread and read what's inside.

I do not know anyone who has any T. blondi spiderlings for sale. Ken the Bug Guy has some larger ones for around $140.

It sounds like this market needs other sources of Goliaths. Maybe I'll buy a male and a female to produce some for the market. I know it would be expensive, and I'd have to do a lot of reading first. Does the female eat the male after breeding with him?

Not if you can help it. Usually breeders will keep a wooden spoon or a large paintbrush handy to seperate them if it looks like the female is going to munch him. Usually though they just seperate on their own. It is just a precaution breeders take to ensure the female doesn't go after him. Sometimes she bites him before they seperate, in that case there is nothing you can do.

But munching the male can be a good thing. In breedings that I have seen the male made off quite easily, but many of the pairings were unsucsessful. Through my readings and reasearch I theorize that if the female munches the male it is a good sign that the mating was sucsessful, because she is lookign for a large meal to help nourish her growing eggs. I've had breeders say that in pairings where the male was munched the egg count was higher than in pairings where the male was not eaten.

So either way really. If the male dies it could be a good sign, but if he lives then he gets the chance at being sucsessful with another female.

I would go with Swifts inverts first.

Try Kumo Ranch. I have purchased a cpl Ts from him when I go to Colorado. They are awesome.
