Hibernating, or brummating?

clffdvr Jan 10, 2010 01:26 AM

Hi All,

My adult, unsexed Mexican Red Knee is acting a little strangely. He's sticking to the cool end of the tank, and is not moving a muscle, unless I disturb him. After I disturb him, he settles back down and sits perfectly still. When I first tried to scoop him into my hands, he was stiff and I thought he was dead. But after five seconds he woke up, and I backed off.

Any ideas?

Roger

No idea. Maybe it was taking a little nap and you caught it in the middle of a T trance.

Doesn't sound too odd. T's don't do a whole lot anyhow. Sometimes they're active, most of the time not-so-active- sometimes they like warmer areas of the tank, other times they head to the cool spots.
