MF B.vagans leg tapping

Arachnoholic Mar 15, 2010 11:01 PM

I observed a behavior from MF B.vagans one late nite i heared her in a series of rapid taps, one session every minute or so for about 15 minutes. I know a female will tap in response to a male tap but she will tap with no male present, they are very loud and rapid. My theory is she is receptive and may be beckoning to any males in the area but I cannot confirm this. Has anyone observed this behavior before? Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Unexpected, but not uncommon. I have not read anything that suggests females would call to males by drumming. I'd guess she's just responding to something in her environment. A vibration maybe?
