Could be a recluse (though probably not)

AniDragon May 02, 2009 01:06 PM

I found this spider outside my room today, and snapped a picture because it seemed to have lost two of its' legs, and thus I thought it was interesting.

However, my curiosity (and slight paranoia) eventually got the better of me, and I couldn't help noticing that it's similar in shape to a brown recluse. I know I'm probably worrying for nothing, since there aren't any records of brown recluse spiders in Atlantic Canada, but hey, if you pit logic vs paranoia, paranoia will usually win.

Er, anyway, here's the picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/AniDragon/Six-Legged-Spider.jpg

I should add that it's tiny, probably about the size of a dime, with the legs.

it's not a brown recluse. to me, it looks like a young fishing spider , Dolomedes. maybe a wolfspider, but I am leaning toward fisher. And, it is harmless.

It's not a Wolf for sure , i'm very unsure about the Fishing spider but i won't remove that possibility, it's not a recluse eighter lol.

The one that came to my mind as i saw that picture was crab spider. I found some similar ones in the building where i work a few times and when i asked around , i was told they were crab spiders .

Here are some pictures of the spider i'm talking about just so you guys can compare . Sorry about the low quality, i took those pics a long time ago and they been laying in my Photobucket account since then. And it might look rather large on those pics but that spider was quite small, just like the one on the ID request. Bout the size of a Dime .
