Moth to identify please...

pilonm Dec 18, 2011 10:15 AM

Hello all,

Here is a little male moth I photographed last July 6th, 2010 in Quebec, Canada (near Vermont, USA). I think it is a Noctuidae but I'm not sure...

Can somebody help me with its identification (family, genus, species)?

Thanks again,

Michel

I think I found it:

Unicorn caterpillar (Schizura unicornis) from the Notodontidae family. Can you please confirm?

Thanks,

Michel

Hey Michel... as always I agree with your ID... sorry for not having replied sooner but it's been so slow in here I tend to forget to look in.

Love that web site of yours btw... those photos of Aeschne constrictor in flight are simply... awesome. Work has kept me far too busy this year to get out into the field much. I did however manage to grab some pictures of dragon and damselflies... nothing to compare to yours however!

Cheers from the frozen north!
