What is this 3 in insect?

snakeguy46 May 15, 2013 08:36 PM

Found two of these at our camp site. This one was under our tent digging. We are located in PA/ MD border.

Any kind of insects are dangerous and one should always carry out the Pest Inspection before setting up the tent in any area.

"All insects" are NOT dangerous. Take your fearmongering somewhere else. We like spiders. Do you honestly think we're stupid enough to fall for this AAAUGH INSECTS ARE DANGEROUS nonsense?

so are you just going to spam the same thing over and over? Because there are ways to deal with spammers.

Well?? do you know what that insect was or not? I posted this one time months ago? If you don't know then why waste your time replying back about spam? This is an insect forum correct?

Wow! It's been awhile since I've posted here simply because it's very slow... but

What your looking at is a Hellgrammite... the larval form of the Dobson Fly. It is not "dangerous" though it does have jaws strong enough to pierce human flesh... it won't kill you or make you sick... it will make you say "why the hell was I dumb enough to play with something that has such large pinchers".

This world is filled with natural wonders... your thoughts should be of awe and not fear.
