Distilled Water (to help Tear Ducts)

cyclopsgrl Mar 20, 2010 07:58 PM

I posted this on the dog chat board (first time on there in all these years). I feel like I cheated on you guys and wanted to be up-front about it.

I met the cutest 5 month old Maltese in the vet's office yesterday and long story short, the owner mentioned she uses distilled water to keep her eyes from running -- the rusty discoloration. She had no discoloration and the only time she got it was when she didn't drink distilled water (drank tap water).

I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of this before as it might benefit both dog and cat breeds that have problems with tearduct/eye area discoloration.

I have never heard of this before but our cat does have stains around his eyes. I would think that it would be pretty safe.
