Introducing Smokey

Chatanuga Sep 14, 2010 10:02 AM

Came home last night.

He's doing pretty well. He's been eating and drinking since around when I went to bed. Hasn't used the litterbox yet, but he hasn't gone outside of the litterbox either. He does know where it is though.

Casey is not happy about our new member of the family. He was hissing and growling most of last night and a little bit this morning. After dinner last night, I ended up moving the kennel up to my office since Casey kept lunging at it and hissing at Smokey, even trying to reach in at him and the kitten food. I know that given some time, Casey will learn to accept him, and hopefully they'll be as close as he was to Chessie.

Since Friday evening, Casey and Smokey have been getting along great. They're sharing the feeder and water bowl in the kitchen as well as both litterboxes in the bathrooms. They've had some wrestling matches (all play and no actual fights) and have even played with their toys together at times. The only hissing or growling has been when Smokey gets to playing to rough, and Casey basically lets him know to back off.

What a great picture and it sounds like you did a great introduction period -- they are getting along well! It is so nice when they play and lay together. So cute!
