we have 3 cats all are over 13 years old and we've had them since they were kittens... we've had the litter robot as the only litterbox for a couple years now and they all use it no problem.. but one of them started peeing in front of it. she still poops inside the litter robot but she refuses to pee in there. checked her out and she had a UTI. we gave her antibiotics. and i added another regular litterbox just to see if that made a difference...but it didn't she peed in front of that box too. got her checked again after the meds and her UTI is gone now but she seems to have become accustomed to peeing in front of the box and continues to do that. its driving me crazy. she will poop in the litter robot but not pee in it. how can i get her to see things my way?

refuses to pee in litterbox

Usually, when a cat stops using a litterbox, he or she is trying to tell us that something is wrong. In the case of your kitty, her UTI has been treated and resolved, so it appears that there is no reason for her inappropriate elimination. This is not necessarily true.
If it has not yet been done, an x-ray of the bladder needs to be taken. If a stone, or stones, are present, the bladder can still be irritated. A full blood panel should be done also, mainly to rule out the possibility of kidney disease or diabetes.
There is also a possibility that your cat won't use the box for urinating because she associates the litterbox with painful urination while she had the infection. In this case, she might have to be retrained to use the box by confining her to a smaller area with a different litterbox.
Regardless, it is never a good idea to have just one litterbox for multiple cats. No matter how clean it is kept. Ideally one for each cat plus one more.

she has bladder crystals. i know that much but i can't afford the surgery. we tried the special food but that obviously hasn't helped. and i tried the extra litterboxes and she just pees infront of those too. so until i can afford the thousands of dollars to get her surgery i'm just gonna have to accept the fact that i'll be cleaning up her pee 3 times a day from now on
