Blood in kitten's anus area?

mingdurga Oct 29, 2009 10:25 AM

My 3 mos. male kitten had some blood coming from anus area, in litter box having a bowel mov't, this morning. Is this a sign of a round worm infection? The mother and her litter were all treated with strongid and albon, for worms and parasites, over 5 weeks ago.
Over the past week I've found white liquid on the floor with long white worms in it; some alive, some dead.

Is there anything worth while over the counter to wipe out these critters once and for all? Is it possible for all my cats to be infected or possibly carrying eggs. Have 3 litter boxes they all share.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I would have this checked out by your vet. A small amount of blood in the stool isn't usually cause for concern, but seeing blood come out of the rectum can be serious.

Please do not use any OTC dewormers. They can cause a cat to become very sick, or even die. If your cats have parasites, get something safe and effective from your vet. OTC dewormers and flea products should never be used in cats.
