One of my cats seems to have, for the lack of a better description, "flat feet" on her front legs. Instead of walking on her toes, as most cats do, her feet touch the ground all the way up to what would be the hock on the back legs.

This is only on the front, however. I don't think there is any pain. She is overweight, but losing, and otherwise healthy at 11 years. Frankly, I cannot remember if she always walked like this and I am just now noticing it, or if this is new.

Hi There,

I think your cat may have a neurological issue and recommend a vet visit ASAP. If she hasn't had a blood panel in the last 6 months or so, I would have that done as well. One of the things you definitely need to rule out is the possibility of diabetes, as older, overweight cats are at highest risk. Neuro problems and/or weakness are fairly common in diabetic kitties also.

It's good that your kitty is losing weight, but it's also good to check with the vet on a regular basis to be sure she isn't losing too rapidly.

Take care, and please keep us updated.

Regards,
PHKitkat

My cat had a recent physical, including a complete blood panel, at the end of November, and they found nothing unusual. We specifically looked for diabetes because of her weight and age.
