A new playmate

pmantone Feb 20, 2010 09:02 AM

After 7 years now with Boris - I can't believe that he is that old now, we have finally made the leap to a two-cat household. We will be getting him a new playmate in April, once the new little boy is three months old and has been neutered. When we have been on vacation, Boris stays with my duaghter and she has two female Russian Siberians - one that is about a year old. Both Kara and Boris have become very good playmates. So much so that the last time Boris stayed with her, she had to separate the two at night just so the family could get some sleep. Seems like they wanted to play all night long! Both my husband and I wonder if we have lost our minds, but I think we will adjust well.

Sounds like Boris will be thrilled to have a baby brother to play with

How fun! A new kitten to liven up Boris' life and yours! I enjoyed having two cats together -- they kept each other company when I was gone and it wasn't much more effort to keep two vs. one...

Boris will probably be asking for a recess at some point -- the younger cat will run rings around him and be a ball of fire for the first year or so... LOOK OUT BORIS!

This little fellow is coming from a breeder. He did not meet the "show" quality so he was going to have to be neutered and sold as "pet" quality. We did some research to find a breed that would be simlilar to Boris's personality in hopes that the two will be able to co-habitate well. Finding another Boris was almost next to impossible from shelters and I have to watch the type of fur and pet dander because I am an asthmatic. That limits our being "the humans" for many kitties.

Yes, he is a Bengal. We still haven't got a name down yet - my husband calls him GPK for "gold-plated kitty". He was my anniversary present this year.
