the furminator

It is spring shedding season, and thought maybe this new gadget would work better than the regular brush with Kasha and Smiggle. WOW!! It does work! Pulled giant globs of hair off of her, she loved it, purring the whole time. Tried it on Smig, no such luck. It worked good for her, but she gave me a hiss/spit/snarl until I gave up and gave her some treats. Price wasn't bad, $24 on amazon.com, compared to $40 at Petco for the same one. Kasha is a Maine coon, and Smig we think is part NFC, so both long haired cats.

I'm glad you said something. I had seen it advertised on TV, but primarily used on dogs. I wondered how it would work on cats.

I've used the Furminator on Quentin. He has thick fur, and occasionally gets matts, so this has helped. Also, he enjoys being groomed and gets excited whenever he sees the brush.

I've tried it on Star, but her fur isn't as thick. In her case a regular grooming brush has worked just as well.

My long haired cats turn into wild animals with regular brushing. I have to lock the one I am grooming in the bathroom with me for it as the others come to see what the "victim" is screaming about and try and stop me by smacking at my hand and the brush. They hiss, smack, claw and try to bite even. Now my short haired ones actually like it but don't really need it.
