What are the negatives of Program for cats for controlling fleas? I have two totally indoor cats that have had minor flea infestation for months now and the holistic route I've been trying isn't working! I don't want to use pesticides and I've heard that Program is the only non-pesticide product.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Lisa

If your cats are totally indoor cats, and you don't take them on outings, and no other dogs or cats come to visit, it should be easy to get rid of the fleas. First check to see that no other animals are bringing fleas into the house, such as mice or rats. I generally use Frontline plus, one application, with a second up to 3 months later, if needed. I use it only to get rid of fleas, not to prevent fleas. In addition, spread borax lightly on carpets, rugs, and furniture to kill the larvae. This works pretty rapidly. Program makes the eggs infertile, so new fleas will not develop, but you will be waiting until the fleas die of old age.
