Hello, I brought my 16 week kitten to the vet for the first time a couple days ago. I got a call this morning saying she is positive for ringworm, a 3 out of 4. They gave me a topical treatment for it and want me to do more when she goes back for her rabies vaccine in a few weeks. Her skin and fur look fantastic and she's not showing any noticeable signs of it. There's no one obvious infected area. What I'm wondering is, how serious is ringworm and is there something without topical meds I can do instead? A bath or herbal treatment? Also, my dog has been in the same space as her, do I need to do anything for him, too?
Thank you very much!

Hi again, I apologize, I misunderstood and my kitten has roundworm, not ringworm. I'm still curious what I can do or if the topical ointment is ok(they gave me Frontline with HeartGuard Plus and something called selamectin.)
My other concern with the dog is that he got into her litterbox and I'm guessing ate some of her stool.
Thanks again!

ringworm is a fungal infection. If there are only a few spots, an antifungal ointment can clear it up. I also use a ringworm homeopathic nosode, or a homeopathic remedy such as Sepia, Bacillinum, or Tellurium.

Puppies and kittens often pick up roundworms from their mothers with their first milk. Strongid is very effective at getting rid of the roundworms. As they can be transmitted through the stool, your dog should also be treated now.
