Drinking enough water

Elly52111 Jul 15, 2011 09:53 AM

Hi All,
Do you feel like your cat is drinking enough water? I never see Elly drinking!

Have you ever tried cat milk?

Hi There,

The amount of water a cat drinks often has to do with diet. Canned food contains a lot of water so cats on this type of diet tend to drink less. Cats on dry food only tend to drink a lot more.

Another thing to consider........cats are derived from desert animals so they do not normally drink as much water as other species. It is a major red flag if a cat starts drinking considerably more, as this can be a symptom of kidney failure or diabetes.

Cat milk is fine as a treat if it agrees with your cat, but it is not needed as a suppliment as long as a cat is being fed a balanced diet.
